"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney

The past couple of weeks, some of my students in my program have talked about their mindset and how it's been hard to shift out of the lack and perfectionism around their business. It's not easy to get out of that mindset when you can go through such ups and downs when it comes to your business and being an entrepreneur, but the good news is that it is doable and it just takes the right tools to help you get out of the black hole of your mind.
It's especially relevant when it comes to attracting clients for what you want. Leading them is the way, but if you have a negative mindset, it can be hard to overcome.
Ever wonder why gaining clients feels like you're pushing a giant boulder uphill? If your efforts to attract clients seem stuck in the mud, your mindset might just be the culprit. It's time to get real and clear out that pesky mental clutter holding you back!
Step One: Admit Your Negative Beliefs (Yes, Seriously!)
First things first, grab a pen and paper—digital notes work too—and write down every negative belief you have about your audience. You know, those sneaky thoughts whispering in your ear like, "They won't pay for this," or "Nobody has money right now."
Don't judge yourself—this isn't confession; it's clarity. By getting these beliefs out of your head and onto paper, you gain perspective. Why exactly do you feel this way? Maybe past experiences left you doubtful, or perhaps you've internalized fears from the constant chatter about economic downturns. It may even be because you lack the funding yourself and you're putting yourself in their shoes. Either way, write it down so you have a clear picture of what this looks like.
Step Two: Evaluate & Challenge These Beliefs
Now that you've laid it all out, it's time to poke some holes. Ask yourself:
Are these beliefs absolutely true?
Can I find evidence of successful professionals thriving despite economic fluctuations?
Have people historically found money for things they truly value, even in tough times? (Spoiler alert: yes!)
Reality check: The truth is, even in difficult economic situations, people invest in services and products they truly value. It's about clearly communicating the transformation or benefit your offering provides. Shift your perspective from scarcity ("no one can afford this") to abundance ("people value solutions that significantly improve their lives").
Step Three: Toss Out the Mind Trash (Time to Declutter!)
Imagine your mind like your workspace: cluttered desks rarely promote productivity or creativity. Similarly, cluttered minds filled with perfectionism, scarcity thinking, and fear of judgment can stall your progress.
Perfectionism: Thinking your offering must be flawless before anyone sees it? Myth-buster: Imperfect action beats perfect inaction every single time. Clients value authenticity and solutions that meet their needs now, not your quest for perfection.
Economic Fear Mongering: Constantly worried about the economy tanking? Truth bomb: Economic cycles happen regularly, yet countless businesses and entrepreneurs thrive by adapting their strategies. Stay informed, but don't let news headlines paralyze your progress.
"They Have No Money" Myth: Thinking your audience can't afford your services? Reality check: Your job is to communicate value so effectively that your clients prioritize your offering. Remember, even in tight times, Starbucks lines remain long because value perception often beats economic hesitation.
Bonus Round: Other Mind Trash to Watch For
Comparisonitis: Stop obsessing over competitors. Focus on what makes your business unique and how it distinctly serves your clients.
Impostor Syndrome: Remind yourself regularly of your qualifications, skills, and the genuine transformations you've facilitated. Your audience needs exactly what you bring to the table. And if you think you need more training, you can go and do that at the same time while you're building your business.
Wrapping Up: Mindset Matters
When you intentionally clear out the negative beliefs holding you back, you'll find gaining clients becomes significantly easier—and more fun. Shift your mindset, embrace abundance thinking, and watch your client base grow!
If you like spirituality and you're up for it, after you write down those negative beliefs and why you think that and go ahead and burn it or bury it. Leave those thoughts behind and move forward!
Now, it's your turn: What's one piece of mind trash you're ready to throw out today?
Cheers to your professional sexcess!
